Caedium Helps Fastcination Win South-East German F1 in Schools Competition

Fastcination recently beat out 14 contenders to win the South-East German F1 in Schools competition. The German high school team used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations created in Caedium Professional to assess and improve the aerodynamics of their CO2 dragster.

What's Holding Back Computational Fluid Dynamics?

The results are in for our latest poll and from 166 visitors to the Symscape website an overwhelmingly number (49%) cited the price of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software as the biggest barrier to further CFD adoption. The second most cited concern (17%) was CFD software complexity.

Caedium Stars at SC11

Thanks to the effort and support of Wen-ming Ye from Microsoft, Caedium played a staring role at Super Computing 11 (SC11). SC11 is an annual gathering billed as the premier international supercomputing conference. This year's event was held in Seattle, November 12-18, and attracted record crowds - no doubt in eager anticipation of catching a glimpse of Caedium :-)

CFD Novice to Expert Reloaded

Did you miss our 7-part Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Novice to Expert series that ran last year? Or did you find it hard to navigate without an index? If so this post is for you.

Caedium Slide Shows

I've just discovered how to share Google Docs, so I've dug through the Symscape archives and uploaded a sample of Caedium related slide shows. Take a look and tell me what you think.

The Caedium Screencasts

Recently I've been busy recording Caedium screencasts, which you'll find sprinkled among our tutorials. Maybe you've seen them? If not, the entire series is listed below. Now, where's your popcorn?

Website Redesign

For a new year, a new website design. If you are a regular visitor to our website you may have noticed some changes, at least I hope you have! Just in case you need some hints, how about a summary of the changes?

CFD in the Azure Cloud

The term 'Cloud Computing' is a rather nebulous term that is open to interpretation, filling some with fear and others with delight. So in an effort to define what the cloud could mean for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, we undertook a feasibility study, sponsored by the Microsoft DPE team, to see how to couple Caedium with a cloud-based CFD simulation service. We chose to harness the strength of Caedium's interactive simulation setup and results visualization by keeping them close to the user on a local machine, and then outsourcing the intensive numerical CFD simulation as a Windows Azure cloud service.
