Oceanic Domination

Not content with air domination through Virgin Airlines and Virgin America, and space domination through Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson has now set his sights on ocean domination with Virgin Oceanic.

Branson's latest thought is to take a submarine down to the depths of the ocean for kicks. He's looking to take his submarine down the same depth his airliners fly, that's about 36,000 ft. It being Branson though means it's no ordinary submarine, it's more aircraft than blunt-nosed torpedo. It seems that Branson's ambitions are a great driver for vehicles that can benefit from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis - through air and now through water. So given my interest in CFD here at Symscape I encourage Sir Richard to keep pushing those boundaries.

There's no commitment at the moment from Branson to construct a new thrill ride business, but who knows where this might lead. Stranger things have taken him to the edge of space, or are about to, all being well.
