"We are thrilled to be a top finalist in such a high profile competition," said Symscape Principal Richard Smith. "Our entry centered on the new 'burst to Windows Azure' capability in the next release of Caedium running on Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 SP1. We worked together with Microsoft to develop this exciting feature, so that our Caedium users will be better able to optimize their designs by performing more CFD simulations unbounded by on-premises hardware limitations thanks to the elastic resource scaling of the cloud-based Azure service."

Awards were presented in multiple categories, with winners chosen from a set of more than 3,000 entrants worldwide. The Technical and High Performance Computing Innovation Partner of the Year Award recognizes Symscape for enabling scientists, engineers, and analysts to solve the world's most complex problems through innovative simulation and modeling in the cloud using Windows HPC Server, burst capability, Windows Azure, and Microsoft Parallel Development Platform.

"We are proud to recognize this outstanding group from our highly valued worldwide partner network as our 2011 Partner Award finalists," said Jon Roskill, corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. "We applaud the unique perspective and creativity each of these companies brings to solving customer business and technology challenges. Our strong partnership along with their commitment to customers plays an essential role in our mutual, long-term success."
