Caedium v4 Sneak Peek: CFD for 64-bit Mac OS X

The next release of the Caedium (v4) CFD software system will be fully 64-bit compatible with your Mac OS X computer. This means you will be able to run large simulations in Caedium that access all available memory under OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard) and above.

This update of the OS X version of Caedium will have feature parity with the other Caedium versions that run under Windows and Linux.

Note Caedium is one of the few complete CFD software systems that runs natively under OS X. This release will re-affirm that OS X is still a viable platform for performing industrial CFD simulations.

v4 for OSX

Finally it will be on par with w7, I felt discriminated for a long time... :( .
Please give me an idea on memory configs/hardware, that are beneficial for a racecar type application. Thanks.

Mac Specs

The 5 million cell simulation (shown in the screenshot above) ran on a Apple Mac Mini MC816LL/A Desktop, with specs:

  • Intel Core i5 Processor 2.5GHz
  • 4GB SDRAM RAM
  • 500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
  • AMD Radeon HD 6630M
  • Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

As with anything CFD, the more memory and the more processors (for parallel) you have the better.

In terms of discrimination - have you found any other all-in-one CFD vendors even offering Mac versions of their software? :-)

64-bit on OSX

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

OSX and Caedium

Awesome, thank you for bringing this opportunity to Mac users. I am saving money to be able to get it. Thanks !!!

Yes, you're right NO other vendor have an OSX version of CFD... much less 64bit capable.

Well done.
