Caedium RANS Flow Results Extraction Sneak Peek

Caedium RANS Flow Results Extraction Sneak Peek

Sneak peek (featured in our February 2009 newsletter) of our Caedium RANS Flow add-on (using OpenFOAM) simulating low-speed (incompressible) airflow over the YF-17. The animation shows velocity magnitude contours on the airplane surface and on a rectangular plane swept from nose to tail.

To replicate, take a converged CFD simulation:

  1. In the Home Toolbar click the Lock button
  2. Click Start
  3. Create a rectangle
  4. Transform the rectangle to the start point of the animation
  5. Click End
  6. Transform the rectangle to the end point of the animation
  7. Click Start and click Run to check the animation
  8. Click Start
  9. From the Result Tool Palette drag and drop the tool (e.g., Scalar Fields->p) you want to visualize onto the rectangle
  10. Click Record to record the animation
  11. Click Run to see the complete animation
  12. Toggle Record to complete the animation recording

Clicking Loop will continuously loop the animation.

Confession: I did use GIMP to convert the avi file into a gif file.

For more details on Lock see "Run, Stop, and Lock Controls"

For an animation example see "Screencast of Transient Air Flow Over a Pitching Wing"

Thank you, I'm glad to see

Thank you, I'm glad to see this capability in Caedium.
