Caedium Version 5.2.0 Release Notes

The latest Caedium release has a mix of new features, enhancements and bug fixes. The highlights of this release are an improved heat transfer capability and major updates to all the Caedium subsystems.

New Features and Enhancements

  • Improve your heat transfer predictions with the option to include radiation [RANS Flow]
  • Realize faster and more robust operations with major updates to the Caedium subsystems: Open Cascade, VTK, wxWidgets, and OpenFOAM®
  • Create 'bullet time' animations with the particle freeze option [RANS Flow|Panel Flow]
  • Specify mass flow rate directly for incompressible simulations [RANS Flow]
  • Mark non-rotating Moving Reference Frame (MRF) boundaries for rotating simulations [RANS Flow]
  • Generate better triangle surface meshes that account for poorly aligned face geometry [RANS Flow|Panel Flow]
  • Try the CUDA GPU linear solver option using CUDA 5.5 with support for the latest NVIDIA Tesla cards [RANS Flow]
  • Generate stunning ray-traced images with support for the latest version of POV-Ray 3.7 [Viz Export]

Bug Fixes

  • Property slider (e.g., Finish->Slider) did not update values during interaction
  • Cp result creation failed for VOF simulation [RANS Flow]
  • Window backgrounds were cleared unnecessarily
  • Properties did not always expand to fill entire Properties Panel width in Linux
  • Dual cells data extraction failed for compressible solvers [RANS Flow]
  • Caedium project file saved by viewer could not be read into Caedium Professional
  • Incorrect camera transform was exported to Renderman [Viz Export]
  • Non-English Caedium translation (e.g., German) sometimes failed to import STEP/IGES files [Exchange]
  • FLUENT files with '+' in zone names caused import to fail [RANS Flow]
  • OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) crashed on startup
  • Connecting all edges with one or more non-manifold edges present caused an error [Builder]
  • Script recording missed Archive property name [RANS Flow|Panel Flow]
